Laetitia
NYIRAZINYOYE is an assistant lecturer at the National University
of Rwanda’s School of Public Health. She received her BA in Public
Health and she is currently a PhD student at the Payson Center for
International Development at Tulane University. Her area of
concentration is Community Health with focus on behavior change
communication and community-based psychosocial programs. The focus of
her studies is the relationship between mental health and human
development in a divided society, including the protection of women and
children from exposure to and recovery from trauma from genocide,
violence and HIV/AIDS. Ms. Nyirazinyoye has conducted qualitative
research assessing MAP-funded projects and evaluating case management
program implemented by CARE-Rwanda. Since 2003, she has also
served as the Project Manager for a study assessing the psychosocial
benefits of a community-based mentoring program for orphans and
vulnerable children. Ms. Nyirazinyoye is currently involved as
Co-Principal Investigator in an operational research project for Family
Health International titled “Utilizing Qualitative Methods to Promote
Prevention Among Rwandan PLWHA”. She is also conducting a survey
on the impact of HIV services on the Health System in Rwanda. Mrs.
NYIRAZINYOYE is fluent in four languages French, English, Kinyarwanda
and Swahili.
