Dr. Musango has been a Provincial Director of Health since 1994, a member of the national planning team to the Ministry of Health since 1995, and was appointed President of the National Committee on Implementation and Monitoring of Community Health Insurance Program since 2000. He has also participated in the execution of Performance Based Financing in Rwanda since 2003. Dr. Musango currently holds academic appointments as Visiting Professor at the National University of Rwanda and the Free University of Brussels which were awarded in 1997 and 2002 respectively. He was recently appointed Adjunct Assistant Faculty at Tulane University’s School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in 2006. Dr. Musango has conducted several research studies and has been published in numerous international journals. He supports the Rwandan Ministry of Health in its program planning and has lead several program evaluations throughout the country.
Dr. Musango is currently the Principal Investigator on a CDC-funded (U.S. Centers for Disease Control) initiative entitled “HIV/AIDS Public Interest Fellowship Program” in Rwanda as well as President of the Board of Directors of the Military’s Health Insurance Program. He currently serves as the Director of the National University of Rwanda, School of Public Health, an institution which has experienced tremendous growth under his leadership.
